No, choosing a specific kayak route during booking is completely optional.
You may select a preference between the beginner-friendly Nærøy route and the active Aurlands route when reserving, or finalize your decision after the guide briefing on site.
The Kayak Trip is ideal for sporty couples, groups of friends, and solo travelers aged 16 and above.
Because of daily endurance requirements on open water, this expedition is not suitable for children under 16. Solo adventurers join every week and find a welcoming, adventurous community on the water.
As we offer a fully organised trip, it is not possible to adjust the duration or itinerary. However, you are free to extend your trip independently by spending a few extra days on site afterwards, for example, or continuing your journey to another country.
According to Norwegian folklore, mountain trolls turn to stone in sunlight and only roam remote peaks after dark.
While camping deep within the quiet fjords, you may hear their mysterious echoes resonating off the cliffs at dusk. Keep your eyes peeled for Scandinavian legends!
On The Kayak Trip, experienced kayak guides are there to offer guidance and support throughout your adventure. When the weather and conditions allow, there’s room to paddle independently. In thunderstorms, strong winds, or high waves, your guide may ask everyone to stay together for safety.
All hiking routes are available in the Travelbase app, so you can explore the fjords on foot at your own pace each day, whether on your own, with your travel companions, or with new friends.
You can book our comprehensive Adventure Foodpack or arrange your own backcountry provisions.
The foodpack includes 1 fresh basecamp meal, 18 freeze-dried expedition meals, 3 desserts, and a full cooking set with gas. Pure, fresh drinking water can be refilled constantly from cascading mountain waterfalls along the route.
You will camp in tents for seven nights along the fjords, with sanitary facilities available at basecamp and midway through the trip.
The first and last nights are spent at the Fresvik basecamp with full hot showers and flushing toilets. While wild campsites along the Nærøyfjord are pure wilderness, you visit a fully equipped campsite midweek to freshen up.
We use single and double expedition sea kayaks, equipped with spray decks for paddling in the fjords.
Both options offer stability, storage space for your gear, and reliable tracking to help you stay on course. You can choose a single or double kayak when booking your trip.
When making a booking, you can choose how much flexibility you want. Check the different booking conditions, as well as the corresponding payment, modification and cancellation conditions.
Flight bookings through us include one carry-on bag plus a personal item (max. 12 kg combined) and one checked luggage.
Carry-on bags may measure up to 55 x 35 x 25 cm, while checked luggage (up to 23 kg) can be added to your reservation. We recommend packing under 15 kg for easier kayak loading, and spare luggage can stay safely locked at basecamp.
Depending on availability, you can add or remove most options until the check-in date. Generally, we follow a first-come, first-served principle, so early decision-makers are at an advantage.
Right after your registration, you must pay a deposit to confirm your trip. After that, you still have until the check-in date to modify your options and pay the remaining balance.
There are various payment options, including Bancontact, Mastercard, iDeal. If you have a Travelbase voucher, you can use it as well.
If your payment fails, it is likely due to an incorrect reference number or exceeding your account limit.
An organized direct shuttle runs between Bergen Airport and the basecamp in Fresvik on Monday afternoons.
The shuttle meets arriving travelers at Bergen Airport and provides return transportation back to the airport at the conclusion of the trip.
